Demoiselles

The “Demoiselle” paintings were inspired by the summer’s heat, de Kooning’s women, cutting my hair short, and the earthy rhythms of Miriam Makeba and Nina Simone. In this series, I explore my own notions of femininity, movement and the body, and the seduction and repulsion inherent therein.
