My interest in vertical bands of color started with the Stripes of Pont-Aven , but the rigidity of line and color, when I was referencing sound, has softened. Grasse Matinée, the first in this series, is a reference to sunny days spent sleeping in. The lines embrace each other, aware of the dark room and the thickening day. I’ve watched the light pass at other times of day, the simplicity mixed with guilt, of doing nothing.
