On Water and Light
These paintings and monoprints explore a growing interest in the abstraction of landscape, using the traditional motif of water and sky. How much information does the viewer need? How many layers of paint do I as the artist need to give the painting sufficient history? These works look at ancient Chinese landscape painting and Western landscapes of the 19th century for their point of departure into abstraction.
